Don Reeves was responsible for bringing the temporary version of the Unconditional Surrender Ssculpture to San Diego in 2004.  In 2012 Wimmer Yamada and Caughey worked with architect Don to provide design services on the permanent installation of the “Unconditional Surrender” Sculpture by Stewart Johnson.  The painted bronze 25’ tall sculputure is located within a new park plaza designed by Wimmer Yamada and Caughey next to the U S S Midway on San Diego Bay.  The permenant installaltion features a raised concrete pedestal seet within a plaza of porous pavers with speciality lighting and seating.  In addition ot the sculpture, the plaza has been designed to contain a plaque for the major donors and an additional 350 donor names etched within the paved surface.  Syska Hennessy Group provding the lighting design, Sipes-’dye and SDSE provided civil and structural engineering.  Graphic Solutions provided the design for the major donor recognition and etched paving.  Prestige Concrete was the General Contractor.
